Syniverse Reaches Milestone with 100th Mobile Fraud Customer

One hundred is a big number, and in the case of the Syniverse fraud team this year, it represents an especially huge number. After forming our team and beginning work with our first customer in 2007, we recently started a mobile fraud solution implementation for our 100th customer.

The accomplishment marks a milestone for the growth and experience of our team as well as for the incredible speed and sophistication with which mobile fraud has developed. Over a span of just eight years, what used to be small, fly-by-night operations set up in garages have largely become organized criminal enterprises managed from locations around the world. And, as I reported in a previous blog post, mobile fraud attacks are now costing companies up to $240 million each in revenue per year.

To commemorate the milestone of our 100th customer, I sat down to share some thoughts on how our team has refined our process over the years, how we’ve seen mobile fraud evolve and what some of the most common examples of mobile fraud are today. I invite you to listen to my observations in the video below to find out how I’ve seen fraud become a larger and more complex threat to mobile.

I also invite you to share any encounters you may have had with mobile fraud and what you think the future holds for containing this problem. Please leave a comment.
