Oliver-BlogWhat’s your title and role?
I’m Director, Financial Clearing, Product Management, and I work in both Syniverse’s Luxembourg and London offices.

How long have you been at Syniverse?
Eleven years now. I started with Cibernet, which was acquired by MACH, which was acquired by Syniverse. During my tenure, I’ve held the positions of Credit Control and Cash Allocator, Customer Support Manager and Product Manager, but many people are surprised to learn that before this I was a professional actor in the U.K. for 10 years. I trained as a classical theater actor, but most of my roles were on television for the BBC, ITV and Sky. Occasionally you’ll catch me in old reruns, but I may be difficult to spot as I had hair in my late 20s!

What are you working on this month?
Planning the Q2 core financial clearing house development road map and PI2 financial clearing house partner management features, and, additionally, helping to align product management, customer support, and back-office strategic objectives around customer engagement for this year.

What’s one of the most valuable insights you’ve gained during your career in mobile?
Agility. Mobile is a fast-moving industry, and we have to be agile enough to move quickly and provide high-quality solutions that meet the market’s ever-changing needs.

What’s been your best moment at Syniverse?
Completing the integration of the Syniverse financial clearing and settlement systems quickly and efficiently after Syniverse acquired MACH in 2013. It was a massive effort that couldn’t have been achieved without the brilliant work of numerous teams across Syniverse.

What’s the best thing about working at Syniverse?
I’m really lucky to be able to work globally across a company with professionals spanning every area from  architecture, to sales, to legal, to marketing, to implementation, to customer support, to back-office operations, to engineering, to change management, to new-business teams. In addition, having the opportunity to travel and work with some of our customers face to face is a privilege.

Tell us about your mobile lifestyle. What kind of phone do you use?
Samsung Galaxy S4.

What’s your favorite app or tool on your phone, and why?
S Planner. I’m constantly on the move, and it allows me to know which call, meeting or flight I am on next, wherever in the world I happen to be.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without using your phone recently?
Three days, when I was trekking in the Chapada Diamantina National Park in Brazil.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I love going to live theater performances and music festivals, and I enjoy adventurous travel. I also love watching and supporting Liverpool Football Club!
