Syniverse Brings Privacy into Focus at Mobile World Congress

MWC_2016_Preview-Thumbnail2The biggest event in the mobile industry kicks off in just a few days, and, as usual, Syniverse has a full week of activities planned for Mobile World Congress.

This year’s show is spotlighting the theme of “Mobile Is Everything” and preparing for over 94,000 expected attendees to descend on Barcelona. Among the highlights will be keynote speeches from the world’s largest mobile operators as well as major companies like MasterCard, Facebook and Ford Motor Company, just to mention a few.

Syniverse will have almost 50 colleagues on hand as well as our usual large pavilion at Fira Gran Via. Our presence will be highlighted by the release of a multinational, multi-industry primary research study we just conducted on an increasing area of concern for mobile operators, enterprises and consumers alike – mobile privacy.

Our study examines how, in just the last few years, the mobile world has seen a revolution in the capability for mobile operators and enterprises to make use of individual mobile data to tailor and enrich interactions with consumers. Yet, for the mobile industry and its ever-expanding ecosystem of partners to realize the full potential of this capability, consumers must feel that they’re gaining value and are in control when asked to hand over personal information to gain special access to a service or experience.

The findings of the study were surprising on several levels, and we’re looking forward to sharing the full results next week.

I’ll also be sharing insights related to this study at the start of Mobile World Congress, on Monday, Feb. 22, at a session titled “Brands Go Mobile First.” There I’ll join executives from Google, Facebook, MediaLink and Aquto to exchange insights on the latest transformation in brands’ efforts to better engage consumers with personalized services. If you’re coming to Mobile World Congress, I invite you to try to attend.

We’re looking forward to a full schedule of what is always one of the most exciting weeks of mobile for the year, and we’ll have several reports from the show. We hope to see you there.
